New Year’s Day Douglas Dip
Every year 100's of people run into the cold Irish Sea to raise money for Breast Cancer Now (Registered Charity Number 1200).
The event which takes places opposite the Queens Pub, is organised by the charity Breast Cancer Now volunteering in the Isle of Man.
This year Breast Cancer Now and Beach Buddies team up again.
Last year saw record numbers brave the cold to raise money and awarness for the event.
This year is the 10th Year the event has taken place and organisers are hoping for record numbers again.
The event starts at 13:00 and you can sign on (opposite the Queens pub) from 12:30.
2019 New Years Day Dip was the first year my daughter took part. She swore she wouldn't do it again
I have been asked to do the warm up this year.
Whilst this is a great opportunity for me to raise my profile on the island. My initial reaction is to say no...why? Because honestly the thought of being centre of attention just is not me. I am the person who will stand at the side lines cheering you.
I couldnt say no, because my mum asked me. She has been on the committee for many years and the time and effort the committe puts into events like these is amazing. So its the least I can do, after all whats 5 minutes of me being uncomfortable compared to what others have to suffer when they are told "its cancer".
So if you want to see me blush and maybe make an idiot out of myself? come on and down, and lets run into that sea together!!
